Hunting Dogs ASBL

Our name originated from the fact that as founders we all have Weimaraners, and it is thanks to our Weimaraners that we became passionate about hunting dogs and hunting in general. From the training experience with our own dogs, and the subsequent successes in fieldwork and training, questions soon arose from other hunting dog owners as to whether we couldn’t assist with training one day. By being allowed to work with a number of different breeds, and the years of experience of our instructors, we now have a broad insight into the behavior of hunting dogs and their own specific way of working. So today we do not only base ourselves on working with our “own” breed, among the students we may welcome cocker spaniel, griffon shorthal, epagneul breton, labrador retriever, among others.

Connect with Dogs

Not directly training for Hunting Dogs, but a distinct approach.

There are wonderful books written about which is the best way to train dogs. If you put these books side by side, you will see that the authors do not always agree on what is the best way.

Today we have very new training methods at our disposal such as target training, clicker training, connection method, association training,… If you know how dogs learn, you don’t have to be bound to one particular training method. After all, you can approach things in different ways. During our sessions, I will work with you to find the best way to achieve the desired result.

Hunting dog training Zuiderkempen

Every year in mid-January we start training young hunting dogs again. The training lasts until the beginning of July .

We start with the basic training and then move on to user training. The purpose of this training is to prepare the dog for use in hunting under supervision.

The trainings always take place on Sunday morning. All hunting dogs are admitted , the dogs must be vaccinated. We work with a small group.

It is also possible to take individual lessons, but only by appointment. If you request to practice a certain part, here too we will try to find an appropriate solution for you.

Hog training

The opportunity is offered to those who possess a specific sweat dog to train it to become a full hunting partner and also become a member of the association.The trainings are given on a specially provided terrain .
Conditions are ;

• Being in possession of a specific sweat dog , dachshunds are also admitted and also receive their training
• The dogs are in possession of recognized FCI pedigree
• Are at least 5 months old and have received all vaccinations
• The forager holds a valid hunting permit

An info day will be held for the trainees before the start of the training .

J.A.C. ORION aims to :

Kempen Hunting Dogs

In our “self-training hunting dogs” course, one learns to train the dog to become an obedient and useful hunting dog.
In addition to basic obedience (roll call), particular attention is paid to retrieving.
We start classes the first Saturday morning in March and end the last Saturday in June.
We train from 9 am to 12 pm each time, where the hour is slightly delayed as the course progresses.
On Wednesdays we give extra lessons and guidance and train at the request of our students so that the whole group can achieve its goal, the Wednesday sessions are optional but desirable for maximum results !

We train dogs from the age of +- 8 months. Basic knowledge is desirable but not a must.
The course is designed so that any dog can join and with the necessary self-training at these 4 months can be trained to obtain a training license.

During these lessons we train our dogs for the work ‘after the shot’. The following things are taught :
Following on leash and off leash , Keeping a designated spot , Land fetch, Deep water retrieve, Sending free, Marked land fetch, Lost land fetch, Deep water retrieve

Our course will continue in areas around Westerlo.

Nimrod’s Friends

Courses start in early March through the end of June. Both the dog and its owner benefit. It is a self-training course; thanks to the instructors’ guidelines, the owner trains his dog himself.

In a time span of four months, the dogs learn, among other things; to follow loose and leashed, to hold place, to come on command, to search for leave in dense cover, to retrieve on land, to retrieve in water and over water.

With an obedient dog you are welcome everywhere, with a “chaser” both owner and dog better stay home!!!!

The Nimrods Friends include 7 regions , namely: Argenteau,Bocholt, As, Lanaken, Tongeren, Waanrode and Zolder.

Canis Argos Dog Center

Canis Argos Dog Center is a dog center where the welfare of the dog is the focus. Therefore, we are more than a dog school. With us you can take all kinds of theoretical and practical training courses with the aim of improving your relationship with your dog.
