It is the smallest duck species in Europe and during the winter season you cannot mistake them for any other duck.
Outside the eclipse plumage, the little duckling wears a rust-brown head with a broad green eye stripe down to the neck and bordered with an irregular white margin. They fly very fast, also jump very quickly and the flight is extremely agile.
The duckling is an unremarkable gray bird.
