Water wildlife – golden plover

All about the golden plover.

Golden plover

Class: aves
Order: laro-limicolae
Family: charadriidae
Species: charadrius apricarius

The upper parts of the golden plover are speckled golden yellow. Its call and song are a high-pitched whistle and are not out of tune during courtship flight.
If they are still with us around May, we can admire their wedding plumage, a black chin-streak, throat and breast and flank bordered with a white border and above it the golden-yellow speckled crown, neck and back. During winter they are much less beautiful. Very rarely, a pair breeds in our country.
