Photography Robert-Jan Asselbergs

My name is Robert-Jan Asselbergs (47). I live in Halsteren on the beautiful “Brabantse Wal” where Brabant kisses Zeeland. A beautiful area where there is a lot of deer. Deer do have my preference for photography, but I also love partridges or rattling hares. I also like to photograph hunting dogs and I regularly go hunting with the camera. Sometimes also with a gun but I think I prefer the camera. I like to capture the atmosphere of the hunt. Kelly Kutterik

I am Kelly Kutterik, 28 years old, living in the outskirts of Almelo, come from a hunting family where it started with my great-grandfather who worked as a state constable in the Zwolle area. My grandfather became a game warden in the Dalfsen area, my father is a game warden/Boa in Almelo and with seven hunters in our family I could not stay behind and I started the hunting course myself last November ’19. As a child I went hunting and got infected with this “virus”, Later in life I was also allowed to go on drive hunts, so I got involved in the world of hunting. Of course it is not only hunting, I also look for fawns together with my father, brother and sister in the spring when the first fawns are born and the farmers start mowing the lawn, to save them from the mower. We are therefore very proud when we have found a number of fawns again and have been able to bring them to safety. Because I am so interested in the fawns, I started an official foundation/shelter at the end of 2016 called, “Stichting Reeënopvang Twente”. At that time I also started my photography hobby. I liked this so much that I was also asked to take pictures of families, babies, parties etc. But my main interest lies in nature. I can sit on a high seat for hours to photograph deer, hares, birds and other game species. Partly because of all this, I became interested in following the hunting course and actively dedicating myself to hunting and game management. I hope that after graduating, like my ancestors, and the rest of the family, I can make myself useful to nature and practice hunting and management.

Some photos from the old days

We start with a very lucky fur trapper, which can be seen from the rabbit’s feet on its façade. And the sheets at the top have probably turned out not to be saleable because they were shot to pieces. Hopefully somewhere in a cold region, otherwise probably a big smell in the summer.

These men clearly live in a cold region. Icy too, just look at the chains on the wheels. Also nice and warm to use a deer as a plaid over your legs (see at the front of the car).

You have to count well to find them all. Sparse men, 1 car and 1 gun (at least in the photo).

These men are very smart. Firstly, after hunting and drinking the game, these gentlemen of rank let themselves be led by their driver. And also notice the artful way of tying the game around the headlights.

And this man is very careful. First, he goes hunting alone. He hit everything he shoots, so there is no discussion about who hit the target. And he has also put his sleeping bag under his wildlife to protect his beautiful car.

And finally, this hunter with a hat is very strong, because there is no car to be seen and yet he has brought two decent pieces with him just outside the café.
