Hunting course

In Hunting Course, the shooters are posted in a fixed place, clays are shot from several points and also in all possible directions. Left, right, incoming, outgoing, high, low etc. This as a simulation of a real small game hunt.

Skeet

In the Skeet discipline, the archers are on a semicircle circumference (diameter: 38.80 meters). A launch booth is located on either side of this semicircle, with the high tower on the left and the low tower on the right. The shooter shoots successively from eight designated positions (7 on the circle, 1 in the middle between the 2 towers) first the clay of the high tower, then that of the low tower. The shooter is entitled to one pattern per clay. At positions 1, 2, 6 and 7, the ‘double’ (the two rooks launch one clay at the same time) are shot immediately behind the ‘single’. The shooter has two cartridges and is obliged to shoot first at the clay coming from the nearest tower and then shoot at the furthest tower. A full series contains 25 clays.

Stairs

In the TRAP discipline, the shooters are 15 meters from the launch pit. The launcher automatically regulates the trajectory of the launched dishes in accordance with international regulations. The direction of the dishes changes after each shooting. The shooter is entitled to two rounds per dish and changes shooting position (a total of 5 shooting positions) after each clay. A full range contains 25 clays.

Compaq

Compak is done over a course with a width of 40m, depth of 25m, which means that all clays in this section must pass. Clays are descending, incoming, rabbit, battue, chandel, runner and mini bourdon like hunting course. The shooters stand in specially made fences with a distance of 3-5 meters between them. Per post (hash) one gets 5 clays, usually 3 singles, 1 double (on shot or simultaneously). The flight and the order of the clays are different for each post. After the 5 clays, you move on to the next position until you have shot the full series of 5 positions and thus 25 clays.

Safety

And safety is important in clay shooting. That’s why this poster with the ten commandments of Clay Shooting.

The poster still says Clay Pigeon Shooting, in Belgium this is no longer allowed by a certain Jan and the word pigeon had to be removed.
