The garganey is slightly larger than the teal. Between mid to late August, the garganey leaves our regions because they are true summer visitors that only come here to breed.
The garganey has the general appearance of a ground duck with a gray color. Up close, the duckling is very finely marked and immediately notices the white eyebrow stripe that is very rudimentary also seen on the duckling. Drooping shoulder feathers adorn the duckling.
When they return from their winter quarters around March 20, we can see the whooping ducks chasing a duck, letting out their rattling call.
