The duckling is a motley duck in which the chestnut-brown head with the yellow gold-like crest stripe is particularly striking from afar. The duck is plain brown scalloped.
The beak is relatively small and serves primarily as tweezers; as a result, they almost never ground. They are true pickers and grazers. They walk a lot on land and especially on meadows on the banks of large and small waters. They fly and forage in relatively large groups.
As game fowl, it is the tastiest duck.
