Bird sightings
A separate field within bird watching is phenology.
This is the study of annual natural phenomena. Examples of phenomena studied include the times when migratory birds return, the first leaves appear on trees, and the first butterflies are spotted.
The otherwise excellent, but especially beautiful website birds of belgium has a comprehensive overview of the phenology (arrival, departure and residence periods) of most breeding birds and winter visitors.
