The purpose of the European firearms pass is to inform the police services and administrative authorities of all countries of the European Union to which a private firearms owner wishes to travel with his weapons about the legality of his possession of firearms in Belgium. It is, as it were, a travel pass for firearms on which, in some cases, visas from the countries visited still have to be affixed.

The European firearms pass in no way replaces the necessary permits to have firearms in Belgium. The governor of the province in question is authorized to deliver it. To enable a smooth processing of your applications, it is best to apply for the European firearms pass at least one month in advance.

To apply for a European firearms pass, it is preferable to use the application forms below (per province). You send this completed to the governor’s services, together with:

• a photocopy of your identity card (front and back)
• a photocopy of the hunting permit, the marksman’s license or the membership of a shooting club. (front and back)
• a photocopy of the model 4 (firearm permit) or the model 9 (hunting and sporting weapon registration form) of all the weapons that must be mentioned on the firearms pass.

The European firearms pass is valid for five years.

Modification or extension

You must submit the application form below for amendment to the European firearms pass to the Governor’s services, together with:

• a photocopy of the hunting permit, the marksman’s license or the membership of a shooting club
• a photocopy of the model 4 (firearm permit) or the model 9 (hunting and sporting weapon registration form) of all the weapons that must be mentioned on the firearms pass.
