With the Walther RS 3 , Carl Walther brings an innovative shotgun to the market that is fully geared to the use of a silencer. At a time when silencers are increasingly standard in hunting, the RS 3 cleverly responds to a common problem: length and balance.

This new model was first introduced to the general public at Jagd & Hund 2026, and it’s immediately clear that Walther is taking a different direction than classic bolt-action rifles.

What makes the Walther RS 3 unique?

The Walther RS 3 is a straight-pull shotgun with the mechanism placed further back in the rifle. This maintains the running length, while the overall length is significantly shorter.

This ensures:

  • Better balance close to the body
  • More control while aiming
  • A more compact unit, even with a damper

A concrete example: with a barrel of 58 cm and a damper, the total length remains around 104 cm. Compared to a traditional straight pull with the same barrel and damper, this would be around 128 cm.

One of the most striking features of the RS 3 is that you have to the rifle manually, and this is done in the pistol grip (where your hand is).

Developed around the use of a silencer

The RS 3 isn’t just compatible with a damper, it’s designed entirely around it.

The rifle comes with the Walther QSA silencer, equipped with a Zerolock system. This ensures that the silencer is mounted in exactly the same way every time.

In addition, attention is paid to:

  • Special heat shield, which allows you to safely remove and store the silencer, even after prolonged shooting.
  • Quick assembly and disassembly
  • Safe use in the field

Fast repetition and maximum control

Thanks to the straight-pull system , you can reload quickly without changing your position. You stay in sight and keep focus on the game, ideal during drive hunting or moving targets.

The magazine is located behind the pistol grip and offers:

  • 6 cartridges (standard calibers)
  • 5 cartridges (magnum calibers)

Precision and construction

The Walther RS 3 features a strong one-piece aluminum housing (monocoque), which ensures maximum stability and precision.

Key features:

  • Tractor weight of approx. 800 grams
  • designed for high accuracy (sub-MOA)
  • Compatible with modern optics and systems

Price and equipment

The Walther RS 3 is available in various versions, including the RS 3 Pro and RS 3 Heritage models.

A guide price:

  • ± €3,999 (incl. silencer)

Depending on the version and caliber, specifications may vary.

Conclusion: Is the Walther RS 3 the future?

The Walther RS 3 is a modern shotgun that responds to today’s reality in many European countries: hunting with silencer, need for compactness and fast follow-up shots.

Thanks to its thoughtful design, short overall length and focus on ergonomics, this is an interesting alternative to traditional shotguns.

As with any innovative system, you have to experience it for yourself. But one thing is certain, the Walther RS 3 will certainly attract attention within the hunting world in the coming years.
