When you think of a backpack when it comes to hunting, mountain hunting probably immediately comes to mind. At least, that was the case with me. Until one day I was tired of all that lugging during a drive hunt. You can already imagine it: your coat pockets full of snacks and drinks, under one arm your chair, under the other arm your camouflage net, your gun around the neck, etc. Then you could still be happy that you didn’t encounter any obstacles or slopes. So I started looking for the perfect all-round backpack.
Norwegian brand Vorn equipment
During the search I came across all sizes, scents and colors. You had simple, cheaper backpacks that didn’t look much like a camouflaged school bag. But I also came across where you could store your rifle. That appealed to me, but getting the gun out in a quick way was another matter. That was no problem before the drive hunt, but imagine if you were stalking and suddenly there is your life’s buck in front of you. If you still had to take off your backpack and take out your gun, your buck would have been long gone. Until I ended up with a Norwegian brand. Vorn Equipment has been making backpacks for the military and hunting market since 2009. You have 3 different storage volumes. But the most attractive thing is that you can take your gun out of your backpack in the blink of an eye by simply pulling a lever. You don’t even have to take off your backpack, it can just get stuck on your back. I had to be able to test this! I couldn’t find them anywhere in Belgium or the Netherlands. So the company decided to contact it itself. Not much later I was sent my backpack. This was it! More than enough storage volume for your refreshments, your thirst quenchers, your ammunition, your headphones, your radio and camouflage net. Your gun is within reach just behind your back and if that’s not enough. You can attach your seat to the outside of your backpack yourself.
The first time
The first time I took him on a drive hunt, what a relief. I only had a backpack on my back and two hands free. Obstacles, slopes, descents you name it, it was a pleasure to go to your post. Later I also took him with me when stalking and now I have him with me every time I sit. I just know that if I have my backpack with me, I won’t miss anything of material.
New development
The advertising via social media and of course word of mouth went around quickly. The Norwegians also realized that there was more and more interest in the backpack in Belgium and the Netherlands. It even went so far that I was allowed to partly help develop the new type of backpacks from Vorn. For example, the rifle was even better protected, the storage compartments even more accessible and the dust water-repellent.
Different volumes
They are currently available in 3 different volumes: 12 litres, 30 litres and 45 litres. The latter even fits a deer or a dachshund. I prefer to use the all-round of 30 liters. If you really had to travel around, I recommend the 45 liters. For the slightly finer hunters among us, the 12 liter fits best. Which is not to say that the 30 liters are 😉 too ambitious for them.
