The brothers Paul and Gerold Reilmann come from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and call themselves Hunter Brothers. They are hunters and hunting bloggers and want to improve the image of hunting. When the two young men shoot wildly, they photograph themselves afterwards with their weapon and the killed animal. In their films, they film various wild animals one after the other and post the images on the internet. Interested parties can buy and watch their films on a pay platform. Some films have been viewed more than a million times so far. In social media, the photos and films are positively reviewed by other hunters, while opponents of the hunt disapprove of the brothers’ work. Hateful comments appear on the internet.

The brothers’ hunting ground is located in West Pomerania and is owned by the family. The more than 500-hectare site is home to groups of wild boar, red deer and fallow deer. Paul and Gerold Reilmann want to preserve the forest and nature. They hunt the game because it eats young trees. They have the meat of the shot animals processed by a butcher into sausage and ham, and they serve roast game in their kitchen.

Since African swine fever has been detected in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, they should hunt wild boar more often. The film shows the two brothers hunting, on a fishing trip, in the editing room and processing game. “Die Nordreportage” sheds light on the pros and cons of the work of the hunting bloggers.
