After the shot, these wads are almost impossible to find, leaving them behind in forests, grain fields, meadows and rivers. The Netherlands has about 28,000 hunters. If we assume the absolute minimum – that each hunter shoots an average of 50 rounds per year – then we are talking about 1,400,000 plastic wads that are left behind in nature. That’s almost one and a half million wads a year.

The beginning of BioAmmo
Every company and every product, even everything that is made, starts with an idea. BioAmmo’s was founded in 2008 when, after a game of airsoft, founder Enrique López saw fluorescent yellow, plastic balls left behind in the forest. He wanted to come up with a solution for that. His thoughts immediately expanded to other parties who have an interest in this. The link to hunters and sport shooters was then quickly made.
Present and future
BioAmmo’s ammunition has now put itself on the international map as the most environmentally friendly in the world. From Segovia, Spain, countries in Europe, America and Oceania are supplied with premium hail cartridges. Where other brands are still focusing on developing a 100% organic plug, BioAmmo has now made a plastic-free sleeve that even composts. And that is important as governments are increasingly restricting and eventually banning the use of so-called single-use plastics . For the entire sector, this will be a crucial step that BioAmmo has already taken. Not only are we ready for the future, we are already in the future. Because hunting will continue to exist.
