In the west of Germany, close to the Belgian border, two officers were shot dead during a traffic check. The German police have announced this. The cause of the shooting is not yet clear. There is an intensive search for the perpetrators.

In the night from Sunday to Monday, two police officers in the district of Kusel, in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, were fatally injured. They were shot at Monday morning around 4.20 a.m. at a traffic check, the Kaiserslautern police reported.
