The story could have ended badly for this little jack russel. In the middle of the day, while her owner was mowing a few dozen meters away, the dog almost disappeared under the fangs of a wolf. The attack was filmed by video surveillance cameras.
The story happened a few days ago in Monbaroccio. Marco Diotallevi was mowing the edge of his pond a few meters away when he heard his dog howling in pain. He then hurried and saw how the wolf was taking away the dog, Margot, 7 years old. Was it the arrival of the man who gestured and shouted that the wolf let go of its prey? Marco was able to quickly get Margot back and take her to a vet, she is now out of danger: “It’s a miracle that she is safe”.
The impressive images of this attack were made by surveillance cameras that the owner had installed to combat the cormorants that plunder his pond. It can be seen how the small dog tries to flee from the wolf, even jumps into the water in the hope of finding shelter, but nothing stops the wolf. A chilling video that shows the wolf in a different light: he no longer hesitates to attack in broad daylight, even when people are around.
This case raises the issue of the wolf in Italy, where coexistence is not as good as the French “pro-wolf” would have us believe.
