Of course, we prefer to hunt close to home. We can visit the revier quickly, fight predators, … and after the hunt (and dinner) we are home quickly.

But Hunting abroad also has something special. Probably mostly the other hunting game, but also the hunting traditions and (back) the hunting dinner.
But what makes it especially special, at least for some countries, is the need for a foreign hunting permit.

Our research yielded the following overview of the necessary administration for hunting in the various countries around us.
This includes Wallonia (because of separate Hunting Permit) and also Flanders (for the Hunting Permit):

To obtain a Hunting Permit in Flanders as a Fleming, one must have passed the Hunting Examination.

For foreigners, there are the following options

Annual leave

A Walloon Leave of Absence can be requested on the basis of a valid Leave of Absence or valid Hunting Examination of:

  • Wallonia
  • Flanders
  • Netherlands
  • Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  • Germany

Applications should be made to one of the district commissaries. Required documents are:

  • Document: passed Flemish Hunting Exam;
  • Criminal Records Excerpt;
  • Attestation insurance (valid for Wallonia);
  • Proof of payment: 150 euros (dd 2012);
  • A photo (on initial application);

The first application requires a personal visit. Afterwards, it can be done by mail.

Day Leave or Permit

Valid for 5 predetermined days. To be requested by de Jachtheer(Antwerp)
Cost 40 euros.

Terms

A Walloon Leave of Absence can be requested on the basis of a valid Leave of Absence or valid Hunting Examination of:

  • Wallonia
  • Flanders
  • Netherlands
  • France
  • Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  • Germany

Applications should be made to one of the regional agencies. Required documents are:

  • Document: passed Flemish Hunting Exam;
  • Criminal Records Excerpt;
  • Attestation insurance (valid for Wallonia);
  • Proof of payment: 223.10 euros (dd 2012);
  • A photo (on initial application);

The first application requires a personal visit. Afterwards, it can be done by mail.

Annual leave

Valid from July 1 to June 30

Day leave

Valid for 5 consecutive days. To be applied for by the Hunting Lord.
Cost 37.18 euros.

Terms

A foreign leave is valid in France, but must be validated by a Departmental Federation.

Necessary documents

  • Your valid hunting permit;
  • Validation by the Departmental Federation.
  • Yacht insurance valid in France

Annual leave

Is valid from July 1 to June 30.

Day leave

A temporary leave is possible for a period of 3 days, which can be requested 3 times, or a total of 9 days.
