Foxes control and management.
The fox is a well-known character from the animal epic Van den vos Reynaerde. It is a species that adapts easily to conditions and is known for its cunning. Just look at the many sayings. Unfortunately, our friend is also known for predation on farmyard animals and meadow birds. Fox-hunting and control therefore help to prevent predation on, among other things, farmers’ chickens, meadow birds and their eggs. In the following video from the Netherlands we see a nice example of a construction yacht (not allowed in Flanders). All the success in this hunt is mainly due to the construction dog team and of course their earth dogs, in this case various Jack Russels.

In Flanders, the fox may be hunted from 15 October to 28 February, special hunting can be requested from 15 May up to and including the day before the opening of regular hunting. This allows for a cleaning period from March 1 to May 14. During this period, the foxes have young and it is therefore not desirable for hunters to hunt the animals and perhaps needlessly let fox cubs die of starvation. We hunt with the necessary respect for the species we hunt. During the period January and February, the fox is hunted more intensively/in a targeted manner, usually larger areas are cordoned off with hunters and the foxes are driven. January-February is the rancid season or the mating season. As a result, the foxes are more active during the day than is normally the case. The fox population in Flanders must be kept under control every year. This benefits the meadow birds, farmyard animals and many other young life that cannot easily adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. In Flanders, hunting is not allowed less than 50 meters from a fox lodge. Construction hunting as in this video is therefore out of the question with us.
