Le corps est mod\u00e9r\u00e9ment long, avec une poitrine tr\u00e8s profonde descendant sous les coudes et des c\u00f4tes l\u00e9g\u00e8rement arqu\u00e9es. Le dos est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement arqu\u00e9 et la croupe l\u00e9g\u00e8rement inclin\u00e9e. Le ventre est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement relev\u00e9. Les membres sont longs, minces mais solides. Les \u00e9paules sont s\u00e8ches et les coudes bien reli\u00e9s. Les post\u00e9rieurs sont longs et bien angul\u00e9s, les cuisses sont larges et pleines. Le cou est mod\u00e9r\u00e9ment long et bien proportionn\u00e9 \u00e0 la t\u00eate.       <\/li>\n<li>Couleur : rouge \u00e0 jaune avec une selle ou un manteau noir et des marques de foug\u00e8re blanches (liste continue sur la t\u00eate, museau et collier blancs, o\u00f9 un collier blanc continu est pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable, poitrine blanche, extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de la queue et pieds blancs).<\/li>\n<li>T\u00eate et cr\u00e2ne : La t\u00eate est l\u00e9g\u00e8re, s\u00e8che et allong\u00e9e. Proportionnellement \u00e9paisse, en partie \u00e0 cause du poil fort qui sert de protection. La queue est pointue. Depuis que ces esp\u00e8ces ne sont plus chass\u00e9es, le Wetterhoun est surtout actif dans la chasse au gibier de printemps et au gibier \u00e0 poil. L&rsquo;odorat du Wetterhoun est r\u00e9put\u00e9, tout comme sa pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance. Outre la chasse, le Wetterhoun \u00e9tait \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 comme gardien de cour, comme chien de trait, comme chasseur de taupes et comme d\u00e9ratiseur.    <\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de chasse<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Depuis que les chiens d&rsquo;arr\u00eat et les retrievers sont devenus plus populaires au milieu du si\u00e8cle dernier, le Wetterhoun est tomb\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;oubli. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, le Wetterhoun est de nouveau utilis\u00e9 comme chien de chasse. Dans une cabane ou sous les aff\u00fbts sur les oies, sur le bateau sur les canards, le Wetterhoun est \u00e0 l&rsquo;aise partout et toujours calme. La chasse en battue du petit gibier comme le li\u00e8vre, le lapin, le faisan et la perdrix convient \u00e9galement bien \u00e0 un Wetterhoun, de m\u00eame que la chasse au renard en raison de son aspect robuste et de sa force. Il est tr\u00e8s appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 comme fonceur \u00e0 la chasse, pour le (pr\u00e9)chasseur qui sait faire travailler le Wetterhoun avec respect et patience. Le Wetterhoun est \u00e9galement de plus en plus pr\u00e9sent lors des stages de travail \u00e0 la sueur. Ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, cinq Wetterhouns ont obtenu une qualification pour le travail \u00e0 la sueur.      <\/p>\n<p>Le Wetterhoun est un chien polyvalent, qui travaille avant et apr\u00e8s le tir et peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour le pistage. Il s&rsquo;adapte facilement au terrain. Il travaille sous le fusil et reste ainsi pr\u00e8s de son ma\u00eetre. Le Wetterhoun assiste (il indique bri\u00e8vement le contact avec le gibier) et \u00e9jecte ensuite le gibier. Il est \u00e9galement un excellent rapporteur et un tr\u00e8s bon marqueur. Le Wetterhoun convient parfaitement aux terrains de chasse compos\u00e9s de petites parcelles de terre, d&rsquo;eau, de roseli\u00e8res, de buissons et de berges bois\u00e9es. A la maison, il est calme, couch\u00e9 dans le parc, vigilant mais certainement pas bruyant. Ils peuvent tr\u00e8s bien rester \u00e0 l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur et y dormir la nuit. Les Wetterhouns sont connus pour dormir sur le toit de leur enclos plut\u00f4t qu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur par -10 degr\u00e9s Celsius. La saison de chasse froide n&rsquo;est donc pas un probl\u00e8me pour le Wetterhoun.    <\/p>\n<p>C&rsquo;est un chien \u00e9quilibr\u00e9 et s\u00fbr de lui qui peut \u00eatre dress\u00e9. Cependant, apr\u00e8s un dressage approfondi, ne vous attendez pas \u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;il devienne un esclave. C&rsquo;est un chien ind\u00e9pendant qui aime comprendre le sens de votre demande. Le ma\u00eetre doit pouvoir le supporter (et ne pas choisir un Wetterhoun dans le cas contraire). Apr\u00e8s une \u00e9ducation coh\u00e9rente et sans contrainte ( !), le chien travaillera volontiers pour le ma\u00eetre. Le Wetterhoun doit y prendre plaisir ; le dressage doit \u00eatre vari\u00e9 et repr\u00e9senter un d\u00e9fi. L&rsquo;intelligence du Wetterhoun est particuli\u00e8rement \u00e9vidente dans la chasse pratique, o\u00f9 le chien peut bien travailler de mani\u00e8re ind\u00e9pendante.      <\/p>\n<p>Le pelage caract\u00e9ristique de l&rsquo;astrakan d&rsquo;un Wetterhoun doit \u00eatre quelque peu gras et son toilettage est minimal. Le pelage prot\u00e8ge naturellement bien du terrain accident\u00e9 et des conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques pendant le travail. Le Wetterhoun existe en quatre couleurs : noir, marron, noir et blanc et marron et blanc.  <\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Pr\u00e9vention et sant\u00e9<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Le Wetterhoun a une population tr\u00e8s r\u00e9duite, estim\u00e9e \u00e0 1 100 chiens, et se trouve presque exclusivement aux Pays-Bas. Lors des concours de chasse, il ne se montre pas beaucoup, car il s&rsquo;agit de v\u00e9ritables chiens d&rsquo;entra\u00eenement. Aux Pays-Bas, le Wetterhoun est activement chass\u00e9 dans diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9gions du pays. Une combinaison de chasse en Flandre compte \u00e9galement un Wetterhoun dans ses rangs depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, \u00e0 savoir le mien.   <\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 la petite taille de la population, la race est relativement saine. La dysplasie de la hanche (HD) et la dysplasie du coude (ED) sont occasionnelles, bien que les plaintes cliniques soient rares. En outre, des probl\u00e8mes cardiaques et oculaires sont parfois observ\u00e9s.  <\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Lign\u00e9es \/ passion de la chasse<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La passion du Wetterhoun pour la chasse est influenc\u00e9e par les qualit\u00e9s h\u00e9r\u00e9ditaires de ses (pr\u00e9)parents, par la stimulation de la port\u00e9e et par l&rsquo;entra\u00eenement. Je suis l&rsquo;un des (tr\u00e8s) rares \u00e9leveurs qui s\u00e9lectionne explicitement sur les qualit\u00e9s de chasse, il peut donc y avoir une diff\u00e9rence dans l&rsquo;\u00e9thique de travail et le temp\u00e9rament.
