La structure du pelage est tr\u00e8s importante, car le Chesapeake est utilis\u00e9 pour la chasse par tous les temps et le chien doit \u00e9galement \u00eatre capable de travailler sur la glace et la neige. Le pelage ext\u00e9rieur est donc quelque peu gras, ce qui offre une protection contre l&rsquo;eau et permet un s\u00e9chage rapide.
