It consists of two parts: first the theoretical hunting exam, then the practical hunting exam. Only after both parts can you apply for a Flemish hunting permit. Good preparation is important and can be done through training from jachtexamen.be.   <\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"503\">\n<h2 data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"531\">Theoretical hunting exam ( First step)<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"533\" data-end=\"622\">The theoretical hunting exam is organized by Nature and Forest and is the first step.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"652\">Where and when in 2026?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"731\">The exam takes place at the <strong>Van den Heuvel Institute (KU Leuven, Leuven)<\/strong> on:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"874\">\n<li data-start=\"732\" data-end=\"805\">\n<p data-start=\"734\" data-end=\"805\"><strong>Saturday 25 April 2026<\/strong> (registration from 12 January to 9 March 2026)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"874\">\n<p data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"874\"><strong>Saturday 30 May 2026<\/strong> (registration from 27 April to 10 May 2026)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"876\" data-end=\"898\">Who can participate?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"899\" data-end=\"950\">Anyone who is at least 17 years old on the exam date.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"972\">Content and Strokes<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"1020\">The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions on:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1071\">\n<li data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1034\">\n<p data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1034\"><strong>Legislation<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1044\">\n<p data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1044\"><strong>Fauna<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1071\">\n<p data-start=\"1047\" data-end=\"1071\"><strong>Hunting weapons and ammunition<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1147\">To pass, you must achieve at least 50% per subject and 60% in total (36\/60).<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1149\" data-end=\"1162\">Cost<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1225\">The registration fee is 70 euros (non-refundable).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1227\" data-end=\"1263\">Registration is done via [ <a href=\"https:\/\/natuurenbos.vlaanderen.be\/e-loketten\/jachtexamen\">https:\/\/natuurenbos.vlaanderen.be\/e-loketten\/jachtexamen<\/a> ]\n<hr data-start=\"1265\" data-end=\"1268\">\n<h2 data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1294\">Practical hunting exam ( After passing theoretical hunting exam)<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1404\">The practical hunting exam is organized once a year and tests whether you can hunt safely and competently.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1406\" data-end=\"1421\">Terms<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1609\">You can only participate if you have a valid theoretical certificate (maximum 3 years old). In addition, an extract from the criminal record and a medical certificate are mandatory. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1611\" data-end=\"1639\">Where and when in 2026?<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1892\">\n<li data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1731\">\n<p data-start=\"1642\" data-end=\"1731\"><strong>Box 1<\/strong> \u2013 Safe handling of firearms: <strong>3 to 7 August 2026<\/strong> (location to be determined)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1732\" data-end=\"1809\">\n<p data-start=\"1734\" data-end=\"1809\"><strong>Section 2<\/strong> \u2013 Shooting skills shotgun: <strong>22 and 23 August 2026<\/strong> (Herentals)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"1892\">\n<p data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"1892\"><strong>Section 3<\/strong> \u2013 Shooting skills shotgun: <strong>10 to 12 August 2026<\/strong> (Leopoldsburg)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1926\" data-end=\"1936\">Structure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"1972\">The exam consists of <strong>three subjects<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1973\" data-end=\"2103\">\n<li data-start=\"1973\" data-end=\"2017\">\n<p data-start=\"1976\" data-end=\"2017\">Safe handling of firearms and ammunition<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2018\" data-end=\"2060\">\n<p data-start=\"2021\" data-end=\"2060\">Shotgun Shooting Skills<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2061\" data-end=\"2103\">\n<p data-start=\"2064\" data-end=\"2103\">Shooting skills with the pellet gun<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2206\">You must pass section 1 to participate in sections 2 and 3.
